Geoje Panorama Cable Car — Nojasan Observatory

We rode the Geoje Panorama Cable Car (거제 파노라마 케이블카). It runs in one go from Hakdong Pass up to the summit of Nojasan (노자산), a mountain on Geoje Island off the southern coast.

The moment you step off at the top, the ridges just keep folding into the distance. This is not a view you get around Seoul.

Past the rocky peaks the sea opens up, dotted with islands. This is the Namhae (남해), the South Sea, where Korea’s coast breaks into hundreds of small islands — the kind of multi-island seascape Koreans call dadohae (다도해), literally “sea of many islands.”

I did not realize there were this many islands out here.

The summit is only 565m, which does not sound high, but the view is huge. The cable car takes you straight up, so you get all of this without the climb.

We stood on the deck for a while. The wind was cool and the whole thing just felt good. The photos catch maybe half of it. A place worth coming back to.
