Yasik — Sea Snail Salad & Blanched Squid, Delivered

Late-night eating is practically a national sport in Korea — it even has its own word, yasik (야식). Tonight’s yasik came by delivery app.

Sora-muchim

Sora-muchim (소라무침) — sea snail tossed with minari and perilla leaves in a sweet-tangy gochujang dressing. Chewy, spicy, bright. I boiled a batch of somyeon (소면, thin wheat noodles) myself to go with it: mixing the noodles into the leftover dressing is honestly the main event.

Ojingeo-sukhoe

Ojingeo-sukhoe (오징어숙회) — squid briefly blanched, served plain with a chojang (vinegared gochujang) dip. Mild and clean, the perfect counterpart to the spicy snail salad.

Two delivery dishes plus a pot of noodles and the homesul table is set. This is why Korean nights are dangerous.
